FPUseless is first and foremost a dangerous extension that will probably cause horrible things to happen if placed on the Macintoshes of bridge engineers, rocket designers or mutual fund wizards. The author makes no warranty regarding the functionality of this software or its suitability to a particular purpose. The author will not be responsible for damage caused by using this Control Panel. The author doesn't want to hear from people who used this in combination with Quicken or TurboTax. The author would be pleasantly surprised if this utility was of any "utility" whatsoever.
What is it?
This Control Panel introduces a fractional amount of error into every calculation performed using SANE. Floating point calculations using the floating point unit (FPU) or by native Power Macintosh applications are not affected.
Why would I want to do that?
Your Macintosh hankers after the status of "PC compatible" and all that it entails. For a few months in 1994, this meant miscalculating some division problems when running FPU-using software on a now-infamous CPU.
Or you just want to gasp in awe as the flick of a radio button makes the Calculator crunch numbers as if it were in the heady grasp of nitrous oxide.
